Why EFR is Mandatory for Divers

  • PADI Rescue Diver: EFR (or equivalent certification) is a compulsory prerequisite.

  • Divemaster & IDC Instructor Candidates: A valid EFR certificate is required.

  • Most diving incidents happen on the surface or onboard boats. EFR skills can save lives.

Certificate Notes

  • Internationally recognized, valid for 2 years. Recertification is required upon expiry.

  • Many dive shops offer combined EFR + Rescue Diver courses within one day.

In short: EFR is like a driving license and safety insurance for all divers.
Learn to save lives first, then you are qualified to assist fellow divers.
